At the age of nine, he began his first guitar lessons with Mario Roy. Five years later, he studied the classical guitar at the Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Conservatory of Music with Marcel Beno\u00eet and subsequently at the Drummondville College for three more years. He also received further training from Bruno Perron (University of Montreal) and Isabelle H\u00e9roux (Laval University).<\/p><p>Among his most important awards are:<br \/>First Prize Winner in his category at the National Final of the Canadian Music Competitions (Montreal, 1997)<br \/>Prize for Musical Expression, C\u00e9gep de Sherbrooke (Sherbrooke, 1998)<br \/>First Prize Winner, Concours Guitare-Drumond (Drummondville, 1999)<br \/>Laureate, Grands Prix culturels de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res \u00ab arts de la sc\u00e8ne Louis-Philippe Poisson\u00a0\u00bb (Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, 2013 and 2005)<br \/>Laureate,\u00abPrix Arts Excellence\u00a0\u00bb for the project \u00ab\u00a0Grands Concerts 2nd\u00a0edition \u00bb (Mauricie, 2014)<\/p><p>He has already participated in the recordings of 14 albums among which are his two solo albums \u00ab \u0152uvres pour guitare seule \/ Works for solo guitar \u00bb in 2010 and \u00ab La Guitare au Sud \u00bb in 2018, a magnificent musical journey to the south of different countries and no doubt a must for all classical music lovers.<\/p><p>Three times grant holder from the Quebec\u00a0Arts and Letters Council for the making of special cultural projects in his hometown.<br \/>In June 2012, he produced 8 concerts within 10 days with internationally known Italian classical guitarist and composer Marcos Vinicius.<br \/>In March, 2013 S\u00e9bastien Deshaies became the very first Canadian classical guitarist invited to participate in the 24th international Guitar Festival ICPNA in Lima, Peru.<\/p><p>In October 2015, he performed at the Entrecuerdas International Guitar Festival in Chile.<\/p><p>Since 2007, he has formed the Duo Contra-Danza with clarinetist Denis Doucet and both have presented over 200 shows of a concert entitled \u201cLe Voyage Virtuose\u201d. In 2022, he joined the MG3 founding members: Montr\u00e9al Guitare Trio, allowing him to explore new musical horizons.<\/p><p>In addition to his performances as a soloist, he frequently\u00a0shares the stage with other very talented musicians. S\u00e9bastien is also interested in the traditional music of the world in particular those of Qu\u00e9bec, Ireland and Scotland.<\/p><p>S\u00e9bastien Deshaies has delighted audiences several times in\u00a0his hometown and throughout the Province of Quebec and he has also toured elsewhere namely in Canada (BC, ON), U.S.A, Chile, France, Peru and Mexico.<\/p><p>S\u00e9bastien Deshaies plays on 2003 and 2018 guitars\u00a0made by Ren\u00e9 Wilhelmy.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BIOGRAPHY Canadian classical guitarist S\u00e9bastien Deshaies was born in Montreal in\u00a01980.
